Double Funnel Bamboo EEL TRAP

I finally finished my double funnel basket EEL TRAP that I've been working on throughout the year. It is made from (locally sourced) bamboo and flax (harakeke), I'm very keen to try it out as soon as the weather warms up and the water ways calm down.

The trap is about 80 cm in length and about 23 cm in diameter, each bamboo rod is around 1 cm in diameter

Eels squeeze through the funnel which have sharp rods so they can't exit

Looking into the trap, hopefully eels cant escape through the gaps in the funnel!

Hey guys. Notifications should come through, go to the top right of the screen and below your name click settings -> email and make sure the correct boxes are ticked. If they are maybe check your spam folder.

Cheers!

Oh Shoot, sorry for the late reply -7 months! I dont think this site gives notifications.

Yes I did try out the trap in January, used chicken bait. The eels slipped out! There was a whole lot of eel slime inside and the chicken bones were on the stream bed. I think the funnel was too large for the little nippers that live in the stream. I'm going to give eel trap making another nudge this summer. I think I'll make the funnels actually closing and flexible.
