Condor Lochnessmuk Knife

Last week I got a Condor Lochnessmuk Knife from blademaster.co.nz it cost $119. I am quite inpressed with this knife, it's the first Condor brand knife that i own. It is designed by Joe Flowers of equip2endure. It has a nice comfortable handle and has a good weight to it. It chops well. It reminds me of the parang featured in John Lofty Wiseman's SAS survival guide book. It is a good size, not to big and not to small. It fits on my hip nicely. The sheath is really good quality too and it swivels around when on the belt, which from my experience is a good thing as it's not unconformable when sitting down. I am looking forward to trying it in the bush properly. I have added a paracord lanyard to mine

the specs are:

BLADE MATERIAL: 5 mm -1075 HIGH CARBON STEEL

BLADE FINISH: Blasted Satin

HANDLE: HARDWOOD

SHEATH:Leather Brown

Today I started sharpening the knife to what it says in the SAS Survival Guide. The knife came rather blunt so it's going to take a while to get it to how I want it. I sharpened it for a while then I tired battoning a 4" piece of dry ti Tree using another piece of Ti Tree as the batton. It went through the Ti Tree very easily, It was like using an axe. I could even split the wood without using the batton. I also tried hacking down a Gorse bush and some green scrub trees with it. It worked really well and it will work even better once I have got it nice and sharp. It also throws a good spark with my Light My Fire Firesteel.

The only downside that I can see so far is that it doesn't have a pommel so you really need to use a hand lanyard to stop your hand from slipping off the handle and onto the blade, which it is always good idea to use one anyway. I am also thinking of wrapping the handle with paracord to give it extra grip and to have spare paracord if ever needed.

I think I might be carrying this knife with me when ever I go bush, It has a real good solid feel to it, and feels like something that I can rely on. More field testing is defiantly on the books.
