The one 'fish' type that springs to mind as a marine arrow target is stingray. I've seen these come really close to shore. I used to harpoon them and use them for shark bait, but now I see less stingrays and I don't feel so inclined to kill them just because I can. The one stingray I did try eating didn't appeal to me much, so I don't deliberately chase stingrays at all nowadays. Mind you, I think some folks eat them and enjoy them and so I must try eating some again some day.... use a special recipe perhaps.

You'd need strong tackle for a stingray.

That looks like a 'fun' bit of kit. I'd just love to do some bow fishing, but unfortunately we don't have any carp down here that I know of... and it is illegal to take trout like this.

I'm surprised that the line appears to come off the parallel tube 'reel' so easily. If a bow fishing line catches on the reel it could cause the arrow to spring back and maybe smack the archer in the face.

Come to think of it, if I was ever going to write a list of things I wanted to do one day, bow fishing would be one of the items on it. I've speared quite a few fish, but I've never got one with an arrow.

Thanks for posting.
