Hi, Finally I am going to have a BBQ at my home for fellow Shrafters.
On the 19th of March from around 4pm, we are going to run a meet and greet, as well as a brainstorming session. As I have never run a Bushcraft event, I wish to get everyones Ideas, possible venue ideas etc for future outdoor meets. Also will get an idea of who is interested in running any training sessions at these meets in their specialist areas.
I want to try and get our families, kids, partners etc involved as well, hence an earlier start time. If our families are involved we may be given permission to go out more often-LOL! So bring them along.
There may be a possibility of getting a Scouting type of program running, this is likely to be in conjuction with 'Big Brothers, Big Sisters' which is a mentoring program run worldwide. They have many more kids than mentors, so this may be a way of giving more kids an opportunity. I just want to gauge any interest in being leaders etc, there is no pressure on getting involved in it. May even be something we could run as a stand alone idea, involving any children that may be interested. The idea is this will be more bushcrafty than Scouts. This is only a concept and may never happen, but would be good to find out if there is any interest.
This will be BYO food and drink, and as I am a 33 year old kiwi male, beer etc is welcome. If you have a collapsable seat etc may also pay to bring this.
If you can let me know if you will be attending, I will be able to get an idea of numbers.
This is not just open to Christchurch Group Members, hence the reason it is on our open to all blog. Anyone willing to come from anywhere is welcome to attend.
So keep the 19/03/2011 from 4pm free. Send me a message and I will let you know the address.
I look forward to meeting everyone.
