Howdy Bushman, im Harry 32 from England, North Yorkshire.
I've been mad keen on bushcraft and everything outdoors for alot of years since I was a young lad. My pops took me fly fishing alot and I was always off exploring the woods and camping. Joined the army cadets for a while then became obsessed with everything Ray Mears.
Im an Electrician by trade and have been over here for about 6 years now although ive struggled to find many bushcrafters or the time out of work to get out there and practise some skills.
My ideal job... now I know this sounds corny as... to become a bushcraft instructor of sorts, with my own little adventure company. I recon that there's a real gap in the NZ market to teach people basic survival skills. I'd be keen to talk to anyone who would be willling to share any ideas/known groups/small companies already doing this kind of thing as im ready for a change into something im really passionate about. Im no expert by any means but im pretty handy.
Im hoping to meet like minded people, share skills, gear ideas photos maybe even try organise some meets and recons of some good areas that have potential and at the same time discover new parts of NZ.
Amything fly fishing or canadian canoeing on the lakes and rivers with a possible weekend stay out, ill be mad keen!
I'll be sharing some photos soon and hopefully making some plans for this years trips.
