Hi guys

Firstly any input or direction here would be greatly appreciated.

Just prior to christmas I said good bye to study, Ive spent the past 5years doing a boat building apprenticeship in which I was lucky enough to be taken around the world working. The last 12 months saw a slight change of direction where lack of boat work saw me op to take on a PADI diving instructor course. All bloody good fun.                                                                                                                            My girlfriend finished her 3year degree in health sciences and now we'r both ready to be unleashed on the world god help us lol. In my teenage years at school I did abit of trapping for pocket money on my parents farm in South Canterbury and was hooked on trapping from then on in.                                                                        Me and my best mate said at the time one day we would head south to Fiordland and spend a year trapping full time. Well now with nothing holding me back and a girl who's arm I didnt have to twist to hard (she loves the out doors) between the two of us we are heading south next month for four weeks of recon. The plan is to head to Te Anua and have a chat with DOC and go from there.

So far I haven't found a whole lot of useful info about possum numbers, densities and where a bouts to go except for a small segment on a website about a general area to possible poke about in.

Any possible contacts or stories of past experiances would be bloody fantastic! Anything at all would be helpful.

Looking forward to hearing something back.

Cheers crew

Good luck with it, I just stopped trapping fulltime due to a wife not happy with the income. Your lucky to have a missus with the same interests.

luckys an understatement. Shes looking forward to it more than i am

Right about the income. Good for a time out or part time job, Enjoy your trip, all I can reccomend is put a lot of traps out, 100-150, because it makes the daily kill worthwhile. I use 40 traps as I am a part timer, and it suits me., but sometimes i camp out and think 100 traps would do. Good luck.I work as a firefighter and use itrapping for fitness and stress releiver, and pocket money..
